Navigation window is slow instead of moving smoothly

Waze is one of the few Google Maps rivals that can really compete with the search giant in the location services business.

Unfortunately, even though the competition is even fiercer now that Nokia's HERE Maps service is getting more and more fans on all mobile platforms, Waze doesn't seem to be interested in keeping up with its rivals.

It has come to our attention that Samsung Galaxy S6 owners have major issues with Waze for Android. For some reason, the application stutters instead of smoothly moving along as it should, and the issue is only present on the Galaxy S6.

If you own a Galaxy S6 and use Waze for tracking, then you already know about this issue, which is present since Samsung launched its flagship smartphone on the market. But here is how one Galaxy S6 owner explains the problem:

“On my new Verizon Galaxy S6, the navigation window lags...or rather it kind of stutters along in a choppy way instead of smoothly moving along as I drive.”

“I assume this is a software issue, but I didn't notice it on my old S3, so maybe there's something incompatible in Lollipop? Or is there a setting I should be changing?”

It has nothing to do with the “memory leak” issue in Lollipop

We originally thought that the problem lies with Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is plagued by the dreaded “memory leak” issue. However, it looks like Waze has already acknowledged the problem and confirmed that a fix is in the works.

“Waze is aware of this issue on the S6 (Lollipop) and has asked for patience until the new version is released in the near future,” the devs say.

The problem is that no updates have been released on Google Play Store since March and all Samsung Galaxy S6 owners who use Waze are still affected by this issue, which might convince them to switch to other location services.

We sincerely hope that the new Waze for Android application the developers mentioned back in April will come sooner rather than later.
