Spb TV announces version 2.0

Based on the IP-TV technology, Spb TV 2.0 offers Pocket PC users a wide range of channels available in multiple languages. Developed by Spb Software, the application requires no subscription fee and is fully sustained thanks to an advertising system. What's new and revolutionary in terms of software in this version is something that hasn't been solved by any mobile TV solution on the market. Spb Software has developed a patent pending technology that is optimized for the mobile TV experience.

If other software solutions were offering a simple set of streaming URLs, the time it would take to change between channels was a real issue, as one usually needed between five and ten seconds to do that. Imagine how long it would take to actually watch your desired show, if you had to zap between ten-20 channels.

Spb Software has solved this issue by developing a channel-selection window that collects all the channel info in the form of screenshots of the running TV show and a TV guide. Even though it doesn't show you the live program, the screenshot will enable you to switch between channels in one second and choose the show you prefer.

Other software features offered by Spb TV 2.0 include Video on Demand (VOD), H.264 support, which provides a good video quality, an On-screen control panel (gives quick access to the switching channel panel), Integrated TV Guide, Battery indicator, Video quality switcher (useful for manually reducing the video quality to retain audio quality in case you have a slower Internet connection), and Picture-in-Picture (where you can see a preview picture of a certain channel displayed inside the main window, while watching a program).
Unlike the previous versions, Spb TV 2.0 can now be used free of charge and requires no monthly subscription, but it is ad-supported at the moment.
