There is no question that there are a lot of sports enthusiasts in the world, be they people who actually take part in competitions or folks that enjoy watching others flex their muscles.

The video above was shared with the public by the folks at AsapSCIENCE just yesterday, and details what happens to the human body while your average Joe or Jane is busy watching others taking part in one sports competition or another.

As explained in the video, the human brain is equipped with so-called mirror neurons that help individuals put themselves in other people's shoes. This is why, whenever an athlete or a team wins a competition, their fans are almost as excited as they are.

Since being happy is an experience that humans are bound to want to repeat, there is no surprise that, the next time another sports competition is underway, few will pass up the opportunity to see it.
