Just yesterday, the folks at Earth Unplugged released yet another video documenting the wonders of the natural world. This time, their focus is on bees and why it is important that we do our best to keep them from going extinct.

As detailed in the video below, bees are very important pollinators. In fact, of the 100 crop species us humans like to feast on, about 70 are pollinated by bees. Simply put, no bees equals no food, and no food equals some really lousy picnics, parties and whatnot.

Besides, bees don't settle for pollinating crops alone. On the contrary, they help many other plant species reproduce, and, by doing so, they help the animals that feed in these plants survive.

This means that, were bees to suddenly disappear, the natural world as we know it would not stick around for much longer either, the folks at Earth Unplugged explain.

Presently, the world is losing its bees at a fairly alarming rate. Specialists are not exactly sure why this is happening, but they suspect that the loss of flower meadows might have a say in the matter.

Then again, chances are that environmental pollution for which our heavily industrialized ways are to blame has also contributed to the decline in the world's bee population documented in recent years.

Check out the video to learn more about the threat that the world's bees are facing these days, and do share your thoughts on it in the comments section below.
