It takes the ice cream sandwich well over an hour to slightly change its appearance

Some time ago, a woman announced to the world that, after accidentally leaving a Walmart “Great Value” brand ice cream sandwich out in the sun, she was positively shocked to discover that the treat did not melt.

Dan Collins of KIKN 100.5 in Sioux Falls was quite intrigued by this piece of news and set out to find whether or not this woman was telling the truth. Thus the video below was born.

The footage shows Dan Collins placing a Walmart ice cream sandwich on a plate, and leaving it out in the sun. As it turns out, it takes the treat well over an hour to change its appearance ever so slightly.

Faced with this evidence, Dan Collins concludes that, all things considered, chances are that this particular sandwich – and probably its brothers and sisters – does not have any real ice cream in it.

According to First Coast News, multinational retail corporation Walmart was quick to respond to this video, and claimed that, regardless of what some might say, their ice cream is perfectly safe to eat.

“Ice cream melts based on the ingredients including cream. Ice cream with more cream will generally melt at a slower rate, which is the case with our Great Value ice cream sandwiches,” Walmart explained the sandwich's odd behavior.
