A few days back, American Rivers introduced the general public to a report documenting the country's most endangered rivers.

The Colorado River was the one at the top of this list. As American Rivers explained when releasing their report, “Outdated water management is threatening recreation, water supply, and wildlife habitat.”

Hoping to raise awareness of the need to protect this water source, Pete McBride Productions has released this stunning video celebrating the Colorado River and warning of its decline.

“The Colorado River runs 1450 miles across seven states and two countries supplying water for 36 million people. It flowed to the sea for six million years but has not kissed the ocean since the late 1990s.”

“A video poem to highlight the beauty and challenges of this national icon, American River's Most Endangered River for 2013,” reads the video's description on the Vimeo page.
