Oddly enough, the solution does not involve contact lenses or surgery

I don't know about you, but I for one have been wearing glasses for quite a while now. Hence the fact that I could not pass up the opportunity to have the folks behind YouTube channel Minute Physics tell me what I can do to see better without having to hide behind a pair of lenses.

Oddly enough, the solution to seeing better without having to rely on glasses does not involve replacing them with contact lenses or resorting to eye surgery. On the contrary, it is as simple as using one's fingers to make a tiny hole and looking at the world through it.

Some might want to argue that this trick sounds very much like something kids would learn about at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but this is not the case. Thus, it all boils down to how the human eye works and to basic physics.

As the folks at Minute Physics explain, small holes focus light coming from any distance. More precisely, they only allow light to come through in one place. Hence, the world is much clearer when looked at through a narrow opening.

Truth be told, it is doubtful that people would one day wake up and decide that, instead of spending money on glasses and contact lenses, they would rather look at friends and family through small holes. However, odds are that, on some occasions, this trick can really come in handy.
