Cats love boxes. This much pretty much everybody knows. However, you might be surprised to find out that they are also quite fond of pumpkins.

The video above was shot by the folks at green group Big Cat Rescue and posted online a couple of days ago. It shows tigers, leopards and lynx practicing their hunting skills on some really unfortunate pumpkins.

The staff and volunteers at Big Cat Rescue say that, oddly enough, pumpkins are some of these felines' favorite treats. Probably because of the crunchy sound they make when they bite into them.

Interestingly enough, it appears that some of the cats don't just settle for playing with the pumpkins and tearing them to pieces, but also eat them.

“Each year we are lucky enough to receive leftover pumpkins from stores after Halloween. Pumpkins are a great source of enrichment for our cats, as well as a great source of entertainment for the staff and volunteers at Big Cat Rescue!” the organization writes in the description for this video.

In case you want more of this, here is one other video of lion cubs “killing” pumpkins.
