Just in case anyone still has any doubts that there is more to science than just sitting around writing otherwise boring research papers, check out the video above.

The footage explains how and why the so-called Prince Rupert's drop behaves as it does: it can withstand having one of its ends hit by a hammer, yet breaks when you touch the other.

Yup, that's right. Just gently touching the drop's tail is more than enough to make the glass explode. Thanks to the video's being slowed down, we actually get to see how the explosion occurs.

“This is unbelievably interesting and very well explained, thank you very much. The slo mo was just an awesome touch as well, watching the fractures travel down the glass was beautiful,” reads one comment for this video.
