Climate change has been around since the dawn of history, Joe Barton maintains

Since evidence recently discovered in Turkey suggests that the biblical flood actually happened at some point in the past, there is no reason why one could not use this tale to make a case about how climate change is not in the least man-made, but has been around since the dawn of history.

One can only assume that this was what one Republican Congressman had in mind when saying that, “If you believe in the Bible, one would have to say the Great Flood is an example of climate change.”

“That certainly wasn't because man had overdeveloped hydrocarbon energy,” the Republican added.

Joe Barton's statements concerning climate change and its links with the biblical flood were made this past Wednesday. His endgame was that of pushing for the approval of the Keystone XL pipeline.

Just for the record: nobody is denying the existence of climate change caused by natural causes.

Still, one has to admit that what is currently happening to our planet can and should be linked to human society's heavily industrialized ways.
