The submarine took five years to build, has recently completed its maiden voyage

Scott Cassell has recently finished work on a homemade submarine dubbed The Great White. What's more, he took it out for a maiden voyage in Malaysian waters.

By the looks of it, the sub successfully dived to about 250 feet (76 meters) below the surface. Still, Scott Cassell says that, according to his calculations, it would have easily handled depths of up to 500 feet (152 meters).

What makes this submarine so special and dear to greenheads worldwide is the fact that it is almost entirely made from recycled materials.

What's more, it appears that, despite the fact that it is fairly big and weighs an impressive 1.5 tons, it runs solely on electricity.

This means that it is one of the most environmentally friendly subs now roaming our seas and oceans.

Scott Cassell built The Great White together with Scott Read, one of his friends. Apparently, the two worked on this project for about 5 years.
