LG Electronics, the worldwide known South Korean mobile phone manufacturer, has recently unveiled its latest handset, a state-of-the-art, 3G device that comes as the world's first watch-shaped mobile video phone. The LG-GD910, which would rather look like a phone taken out of a Sci-fi movie, can be worn on the wrist.

LG has developed the device using the 3G technology so as to offer users a means to make video calls. The watch-shaped phone comes with a touchscreen that is used for most of the interaction with the device, including dialing, and also sports an integrated speaker, camera, and a Bluetooth function. It also features a set of buttons on the side.

The new WCDMA (wideband code division multiple access) LG-GD910 is said to support the latest 7.2Mbps HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) data system, which means that it can offer really fast download speeds.

According to LG Electronics, the new 3G watch phone allows users to make video calls over a high-speed Internet connection. In addition, it also enables its owner to listen to MP3s, while also being capable of transforming text to speech and of recognizing voices. The new device is said to come with a 1.43-inch screen (3.63 centimeters) and measure no more than 0.56 inches thick (13.9 millimeters).

According to the news over the Net, the new watch phone will be unveiled by the South Korean Mobile phone manufacturer at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which is set to take place from January 8 to January 11. The company is reported to have announced that the new watch phone was planned for release on the European market at a certain point in 2009, but it gave no specific information on the time frame.
