This video for Nickelback's "Trying Not to Love You" might come as a bit of a shock for the band's fans, as it is unlike anything these performers ever presented us with in the past.

Starring Jason Alexander (George Costanza, if you prefer) and former fashion model Brooke Burns, the clip tells the story of a coffee shop–based romance, with Jason daydreaming about Brooke, and a potential rival with a motorcycle (also played by Jason Alexander) stepping in to upset things for a while.

In the end, the bad guy might be the winner of the coffee-foam-models showdown, but the good guy is the one who gets the girl.

Naturally, comments ranged from “I feel like the video is stupid and takes away from the song,” to “Wooow, this video is really weird. It could be so much better, and touching, and lovely. But... I still love this sing, it has amazing lyrics.”

For the time being, we cannot help but wonder whether this video was inspired by Mike Kroeger's working at Starbucks in his youth.
