This coming Wednesday, June 3, marks the 50th anniversary of the first US spaceflight. That's right, it was 50 years ago, on June 3, 1965, that NASA astronaut Ed White went walkies in space for about 20 minutes.

He would have gone for a longer stroll, what with how fascinated he was by the view the moment he stepped outside his spacecraft, but his annoying superiors ordered him back inside.

Understandably, NASA is adamant about not letting this celebration go by unnoticed. Working closely with actor Jon Cryer, who was cool enough to agree to narrate it, the space agency has made a short documentary telling the tale of the last 50 years of spacewalks.

The documentary, available below, goes by the name of “Suit Up.” It premiered on NASA Television this June 1, at 10 a.m. EDT, and as promised, the space agency made it available it on its YouTube channel shortly after.

“This NASA documentary celebrates 50 years of extravehicular activity (EVA) or spacewalks that began with the first two EVAs conducted by Russian Alexey Leonov in March 1965 and American astronaut Edward White in June 1965,” reads the video's description.

Mind you, the documentary also brushes on what the future has in store when it comes to space research and space exploration. By the looks of it, we'll definitely be landing on another planet sometime in the near future.
