On February 19, quite early in the morning, Italy's Mount Etna decided that the time had come for it to once again entertain the crowds. Hence its staging a spectacular eruption, made available to you in the video above.

Researchers explain that this is Mount Etna's first big eruption for the year 2013, and that many others are expected to follow in the not so distant future.

For those unaware, Mount Etna is one of the world's most active volcanoes, meaning that, every once in a while, it takes great pleasure in spewing gas and/or lava.

The footage above was shot by Klaus Dorschfeldt, a videographer and webmaster at Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.

The video below also shows Mount Etna erupting, only that this time we get to see the whole event from a slightly different angle.
