Microsoft hopes to sell a lot of these laptops this season

Not so long ago HP introduced a colorful lineup of laptops, designed as Chromebook-killer. The notebooks carry the specifications you might expect to find with a Chrome OS notebook, but run Windows 8.1 with Bing instead.

And now in anticipation of the busy holiday season, Microsoft has rolled out the first commercial dedicated to the HP Stream family of budget-friendly notebooks, complete with Christmas music and everything.

The ad places the cheap lappy against a good old-fashioned agenda, which is a bizarre way of highlighting the HP Stream’s prowess. After all, any kind of laptop can store more pictures and information than your basic photo book.

Anyway, the HP Stream is currently selling for $199 / €158 and comes about with an 11.6-inch diagonal HD Antiglare WLED-backlit display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

It draws power from an Intel Celeron N2840 processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Naturally, you’ll see Windows 8.1 with Bing arriving onboard of the notebook.

The laptop also has a True Vision HD webcam, DTS Studio Sound, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Battery life is said to amount to 8 hours and 15 minutes.

Note that the laptop ships out with a 1 year of Office 365 Personal subscription and 1TB of OneDrive storage.
