Unless you are utterly and completely devoid of all human emotions, the video below will surely put a smile on your face. If you're lucky enough, that smile might actually turn out to be one big grin.

The footage was shot in the waters off the coast of Mexico earlier this year, Huffington Post informs, and it shows a diver freeing a turtle that was caught in a net and unable to free itself.

The online community is no stranger to videos showing divers lending a helping hand to marine animals in distress. Still, the turtle in this footage does something few aquatic creatures have until now done.

After being freed, the turtle first swims away from divers Cameron Dietrich and Colin Sutton. However, just moments later, it returns and stops close enough to Dietrich for the man to be able to touch it.

The turtle and the man spend some time staring at each other, after which the marine mammal, which was probably looking to say “thank you,” leaves and heads towards to the open ocean.

“I love how the sea turtle came back like it was saying thank you, it's amazing how humans and other living things connect with each other,” viewer Logan Schellenberg comments on this video.

As noticeable in the video, one of the turtle's flippers was left injured by the fishing net. Hopefully, the wound will soon heal and the animal will make a full recovery.
