Although on-demand video content is rapidly growing in popularity, there are still some times when one would give everything he, or she, owns to watch that all important game of the favorite show on TV, Dish Network making this task a lot easier as they are offering their subscribers the ability to watch all of their live and recorded television programs on compatible smartphones, tablets and laptops with the Sling Adapter.

Thanks to this small placeshifting device, Dish Network subscribers will be able to watch TV content on a wide array of mobile devices, including Apple's iPhone and iPad (TV viewing coming soon on iOS 4.2) as well as Android and BlackBerry smartphones or tablets.

In order to do so, the Sling Adapter must be connected to an Internet connected ViP 722 or 722k HD DVR via an empty USB slot, the device featuring an easy plug and play setup that requires no additional wires or connectors.

Once the Sling Adapter is hooked up, users will be able to watch live and recorded TV shows wherever they have Internet access, all the necessary apps being available free of charge in their respective app stores.

“Dish Network is proud to be the first pay-TV provider to bring our customers the ability to enjoy their TV anywhere, anytime on a variety of popular devices,” said Dish Network Chief Marketing Officer Ira Bahr.

“Unlike mobile viewing from cable and telcos that limit access to select programs, our TV Everywhere services give consumers 24x7 access to all of the live and recorded content included with their Dish Network programming subscription,” concluded the company rep.

The Sling Adapter is available right now for $99 to new and current Dish Network customers, the company stating they will continue to expand the number of compatible devices along the way.
