What most people know about chameleons is that they change color in order to better blend in with their surroundings.

However, this video provides us with some very interesting insights into this species' routines. Thus, it seems that chameleon mothers simply lay their eggs in the underground and leave them there.

This means that when they hatch, baby chameleons have no choice but to fend for themselves. However, as the footage shows, they are fully capable of doing so.

Without any previous practice, they can use their oversized and sticky tongues in order to feed on baby spiders, and they are extremely gifted when it comes to balancing their weight while moving through the vegetation.

Interestingly, this video argues that chameleons do not change their color to fade against the background, but that their body patterns change according to temperature, light and mood.
