Undercover footage shows rabbits screaming in pain, bleeding in their cages

It won't be long now until winter sets in, and many will probably think about buying an angora fur coat to keep warm. Before they reach for their wallets, these people would do best to have a look at this video.

The footage was shot at an angora fur farm in China by undercover PETA activists. It shows workers using nothing but their hands to rip the fur off the rabbits' skin. The latter keep screaming in pain, yet nobody seems to care.

According to PETA, rabbits that end up in such farms live for about two years, during which they are stripped of their fur once every two-three months.

When they aren't tortured by workers, the rabbits enjoy the “comfort” and “luxury” of cages that are too small for the animals to have enough room to stretch their feet.

“Ninety percent of angora fur comes from China, where there are no penalties for abuse of animals on farms and no standards to regulate the treatment of the animals.”

“When you buy a sweater, hat, or other product that contains angora, the angora fur most likely originated in China, even if the finished product was assembled elsewhere,” PETA says.

The organization's message is pretty straightforward: unless you want to support this horrible industry, don't buy anything made from angora fur.

Viewer discretion is recommended when watching the video above as some people might find its content disturbing.
