Fair warning: some of these experiments are not to be recreated at home

There are few who would ever admit to it in public for fear of being poked fun at, but I strongly suspect that a teeny tiny mad scientist desperate to carry out the most bizarre of experiments is lurking in each and every one of us.

At the risk of coming across as corny, it is to this closeted mad scientist that I want to dedicate the video below. I can only hope he'll like it and be inspired by it.

The footage made it online a few days ago, when it was posted on YouTube by the folks at Buzzfeed. It has until now scored over 200,000 hits, and I for one find it most entertaining.

The video documents five insanely creative ways to light a bulb. Fair warning though: some of these experiments are not to be recreated at home, as they can easily lead to one person or another's being injured.

Since I'm not one to give (detailed) spoilers, I will just tell you this: apparently, you can light a bulb using fruits and veggies as your power source. You can also do it with the help of a microwave oven and even a balloon.

Granted, none of the bulbs used in this series of experiments produces enough light for anyone to even consider going off the grid and turning to potatoes instead. Still, the video is pretty fun to watch.
