The documentary provides a behind-the-scenes look at how the remastered Halo 2 anniversary edition came to be

Developer 343 Industries published the hour-long documentary chronicling the team's epic journey as they recreated Halo 2 for its ten-year anniversary.

The video is available freely on YouTube for everyone to see, documenting the inception of the consecrated shooter's reboot, due out later this year, part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a compilation of the first four Halo games, coming with improved visuals and a host of other tweaks.

The documentary is titled Remaking the Legend – Halo 2 Anniversary, and it explores pretty much each and every aspect of developer 343 Industries' efforts during the making of the video game, over the course of 62 minutes.

A massive but worthwhile undertaking

Halo 2 is one of the most ground-breaking entries in the wildly popular first-person shooter series, and its tenth anniversary called for the team to do something special.

Over the course of the documentary, you'll be able to see a lot of veterans from the Halo development team sharing their mind on the game and the actual development process, and on the circumstances of the game's release and how the remaster came to be.

In addition to this, you'll also be able to hear from various fresh members of the team, expressing their excitement at being able to become a part of the legendary Halo's history.

The video is well worth the watch if you're into Halo or game development, showing a lot of behind-the-scenes footage and revealing a lot of the great ideas that went into the making of the game, as well as explaining how Halo became one of the most influential video game franchises ever created.

An epic compilation for Xbox One owners

Halo 2 Anniversary is part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection, due out next week, on November 11, exclusively for the Xbox One home entertainment system from Microsoft.

The compilation will enable many gamers to relive some of their best memories from a long time ago, brought up to speed in terms of visuals and mechanics, and will offer a great many others the chance to experience an important piece of gaming history firsthand, in an updated fashion.

Furthermore, the collection will also include a lot of spoilers for the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, hidden within in-game consoles, preparing gamers for the first proper next-gen Halo experience, in addition to giving everyone some more great games to play on their Xbox One devices.
