Using all the right ingredients, TheBackyardScientist creates his home-made propane rifle fire sparks, even green flames

We've said it many times before, but just for the sake of emphasis, we'll go ahead and say it again: science experiments might be loads of fun, but some you might want to refrain from reenacting. Especially if getting injured isn't on your to-do list for the day.

One such experiment that regular folks should not attempt to recreate is detailed in the video below and boils down to engineering a super awesome propane rifle.

To make his propane rifle, explosions enthusiast TheBackyardScientist simply connects a self-igniting propane torch to a tube that, in turn, has a regular plastic bottle attached to its other end.

When fired, the torch sends propane and air through the tube. The result is a teeny tiny flame racing all the way to the bottle. Inside the bottle, a build-up of propane means a small explosion happens when the flame reaches this part of the makeshift rifle. Pretty cool, right?

Even better, TheBackyardScientist shows us what happens when all sorts of extra chemical compounds are sprinkled inside the plastic bottle and allowed to ignite.

Long story short, it looks like propane rifles can be made to fire greenish flames and even cough out quite intimidating explosions. Check out the video to see for yourselves and get ready to have your mind blown. Figuratively speaking, of course.
