The lions seem to be having the time of their lives

If you think about it, lions are basically cats. Oversized ones with huge claws and really scary teeth, but cats nonetheless. So why not hug them and play with them just as you would the felines people keep as pets?

At least this is what animal behaviorist and lion whisperer Kevin Richardson seems to think.

The video above shows him interacting with a pair of lions, hugging them and lying on the ground with them as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

The most interesting part is that the animals appear to enjoy Kevin Richardson's company just as much as he enjoys theirs.

According to Huffington Post, Kevin Richardson believes that, “His unique method of getting to know their individual personalities, what makes each of them angry, happy, upset, or irritated – just like a mother understands a child – has caused them to accept him like one of their own, into their fold.”

I suspect he bribes them with antelope meat and squeaky toys to get them to like him.
