Of all the tricks one could teach an animal to perform, making a giant tortoise walk faster seems the most tedious. Still, that's exactly what employees of the Twycross Zoo in England are doing.

Apparent, staff at this animal sanctuary got bored of waiting for the three tortoises under their care to walk into their night pen at their usual speed, and decided to make them enter a so-called speed training program.

Check out the video above to see how a tortoise speed training session unfolds. The animals are tricked into walking faster with the help of their favorite foods, which are used as bait.

Although they seem willing to pick up the pace when presented with food, the tortoises still have a long way to go until zoo staff are satisfied with their performances.
