All our planet has to do is move farther away from the sun

The Sun is about 4.5 billion years old and, in another one billion years, it will start to expand and burn so bright that it will cause our planet's oceans to boil and the mountains we very much enjoy exploring and taking pictures of to melt.

Needless to say, humanity has zero chances to survive these phenomena. Provided that it stays as close to the sun as it presently does, that is.

The video above details how we could use something known as “gravity assist” to move our planet farther away from the sun.

The idea is that we could use ginormous meteors and their gravitational field to catapult ourselves at a safe distance, and thus survive the sun's demise.

Granted, we would lose our moon and gain some new neighbors, not to mention the fact that weather patterns on our planet would probably go haywire, but hey, at least we'd still be alive.
