The development team at Ubisoft and hardware maker Sony announce that the upcoming Watch Dogs will have exclusive bundle editions for both the PlayStation 4 next-gen console and for the older PlayStation 3.

Those who get them will be able to enjoy 60 minutes of additional playtime when the title is available, although neither of the two companies is yet willing to offer official information on exactly what kind of new quests players will be able to access.

The official PlayStation 4 and PS3 bundles will include a copy of Watch Dogs and the consoles themselves, although fans will be disappointed to find out that there’s no personalization on the hardware or on its controllers.

The official announcement from the PlayStation Blog states, “Aiden Pearce, our clandestine vigilante, harnesses the smart city of Chicago using his smartphone. In addition to being a skilled hacker, Aiden can be quite persuasive in getting the information he needs using his wit, along with firearms, vehicles, and a stun baton.”

The newly launched trailer for Watch Dogs shows some of the situations that players will have to deal with and introduces the main antagonist of the title, while also offering a quick look at other characters: Clara, a young woman with a mysterious past, and T-Bone, a free spirit with an interest in new tech and tinkering.

The game will focus on the city of Chicago and will use an open world structure, allowing gamers to explore at will and use their extensive hacking abilities to affect the rest of the world using the central operating system and its set of features.

The entire experience is designed to create a larger conversation about surveillance, its impact on individual lives, and how vigilantes can create justice in a world dominated by crime.

Video game publisher Ubisoft says that it plans to offer more information on the title before the May 27 launch date, giving fans a clearer view of the gameplay and the various characters they will need to deal with.

Watch Dogs was initially set to be a launch title on both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, but it was delayed as the studio working on it felt like it needed more time in order to realize the original vision it had for it.

It will be interesting to see whether Microsoft plans to announce an official Watch Dogs bundle that features its own next-gen console.
