This little fellow was filmed while rolling in the mud in Namibia

Here's a video guaranteed to brighten up your day. Unless you happen to be a germaphobe and cannot even stand the idea of rolling around in mud, that is.

The footage was shot in Namibia and shared with us ordinary people by the folks at The Rare and Endangered Species Trust, Grist reports.

In case anyone was wondering – and I'm sure many of you were – the weird-looking creature featured in this video is a pangolin.

These animals inhabit Africa and Asia, and wildlife researchers have until now been able to document a total of 8 distinct species that are still alive and kicking.

The trouble is that, courtesy of the poaching activities in the regions inhabited by these creatures, some pangolins might go extinct in the not so distant future.

Specialists say that, all things considered, the little fellow in the video above was probably rolling in mud looking to cool off. However, it is also possible that it was looking to shake off some parasites.

Still, I am pretty convinced that its mud bath was not only intended to serve one of the two before-mentioned purposes, but was also an opportunity for the pangolin to have some fun.
