Hamsters can shove a whole lot of food in their otherwise teeny tiny mouth, this video shows how they do it

Some might like to think of themselves as having a huge appetite that could put a wild bear to shame, but the fact of the matter is that, try as we might, there is no way we humans could ever shove as much food in our mouth as a hamster can.

They may be oddly small when compared to other furry creatures and have freakishly teeny tiny mouths, but the fact of the matter is that hamsters have an innate gift for stuffing their face and looking totally adorable while at it.

If you have a few minutes to spare and happen to be in the mood to see for yourselves how these rodents manage to make massive amounts of food disappear in just a few seconds, check out the video below. Entertainment guaranteed.

As shown in the X-ray footage included in this video, hamsters have special pouches on the sides of their bodies. These pouches extend all the way to their hips and serve to carry food from one place to another. Kind of like take-away bags.

The really cool thing about these rodents is that, to make sure that their future snacks don't go bad while they are busy carrying them around, they see to it that no saliva reaches their pouches. Otherwise put, hamsters are perfectly equipped to stash food and then eat and eat to their heart's desire.
