Here's something bound to brighten up your day: a video showing five meerkat pups and the rest of their family hanging around their den and digging in the sand looking for God knows what.

Zoo Borns tells us that these meerkat pups were recently born at Bioparc Valencia in Spain, and that they are all healthy and active.

In the wild, meerkats live in social colonies, and the entire family helps raise the young ones. Apparently, this is also the case for this meerkat family, despite the fact that these creatures live in captivity.

Sometimes, it also happens that the pups are nursed by females other than their mother.

The species is native to southern Africa, and lives in the desert, the same source tells us. They live in underground burrows and tunnels and give birth to up to four litters each year.
