This past Sunday, a reporter in Australia got the chance to rescue a dolphin which had beached on the shores of Tweed River.

Paul Burt later told members of the press that, when he first stumbled upon the dolphin, the latter looked as if it had “tears” in its eyes.

“We thought he was dead to start with. But when he saw us it was like, 'The rescuers are coming to get me'. He was excited,” Paul recollects.

“It was so surreal. You had to do something for him,” the reporter says.

With the help of one of his friends, Paul dragged the dolphin back into the water. Once there, the marine mammal quickly figured out what it was supposed to do and swiftly swam away.

Paul Burt and his friend speculate that the dolphin beached because of the quickly receding tide.
