Video says the “order of operations” rule is wrong

Those who simply refused to force their brains into understanding maths while in school can now congratulate themselves for choosing to do so.

This is because, as the video above shows, a basic mathematical rule, i.e. the so-called order of operations, is utterly wrong.

For those unaware, the order or operations, a.k.a. PEMDAS, goes a little bit like this: parenthesis, exponents, multiplication and division from left to right, addition and subtraction from left to right.

The purpose of this rule is that of teaching us how to deal with mathematical calculations in the proper sequence. Still, this video says that all equations should be solved with the help of parenthetical couples.

Truth be told, it is highly unlikely that the video will turn people into mathematics geniuses.

Still, odds are, once armed with this piece of information, one might stand a chance of impressing their teacher and/or friends with their mathematical wits.
