When Nuoc's mother stopped producing milk for her just 12 days after she had been born, the baby leaf monkey was in serious risk of dying of starvation.

Luckily for her, staff at Australia's Taronga Zoo stepped in and managed to save her life by bottle-feeding her as often as needed to make sure she was well nourished.

The baby monkey had to be bottle-fed in front of her parents, her sibling and even her aunt, zookeepers explain.

By doing so, they managed to avoid her being rejected by the rest of the family when the time came for them to be reunited.

Leaf monkeys are currently listed as an endangered species, and Nuoc's survival is regarded by conservationists as one step forward as far as keeping these animals from extinction goes.
