The mediated case of the Oscar Pistorius murder trial is about to come to a close. The attention of all the world turns to South Africa where judge Thokozile Masipa will have to give the verdict in this six-month trial and decide whether the Olympic track star Oscar Pistorius is guilty or not of killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day in 2013.

The judge has to recount and analyze evidence given throughout this trial by almost 40 witnesses and then reach a verdict. Since South Africa does not have trial by jury, the verdict will be given by Judge Masipa, who will ask for some help from her two assistants.

She has to decide if Pistorius stands guilty of murder, of a negligent killing or if he made a tragic error, in which case he should be acquitted. If found guilty, Pistorius stands to get a sentence of 25 years to life in prison if found guilty of premeditated murder.

Apart from the murder charge, Pistorius also faces three separate firearms charges. It should be mentioned that the South African athlete has pleaded not guilty to all four counts.
