Video highlights the importance of protecting “ugly” animals as well

As pointed out on several occasions, panda bears are the poster kids for conservation projects. Still, this does not mean that they are the only ones endangered and in dire need of our help.

This video above made it online a few days ago, and shows an ape trying to make itself look less like an ape and more like a panda.

The animal hopes that, once its transformation into a cuter animal is complete, its species will get more attention.

“By exposing the contrast certain animals receive in conservation efforts, we hope to give other primates—like the gorilla—a stronger shot at survival,” explains APES, the green-oriented group who pieced together this video.

“The mission of APES is to raise awareness around all endangered animals, versus putting the emphasis on just one particular species,” the organization further explains.
