I hate to admit it, but the truth is I am one of those people who is absolutely clueless about which fruits are simply perfect and which look good at a first glance but turn out to be a huge disappointment when on the plate.

The video below offers some tips on how to pick and choose the best fruits when shopping, and I for one found it quite entertaining and educational.

As explained in the video, peaches taste sweeter when covered in red patches. This is because it is in these darker spots on their surface that sugar collects while they are busy sunbathing.

When it comes to avocados, you should make sure that their stem end is not brown, but a light color. By the looks of it, avocados that have brown stem ends are too mushy to eat.

Watermelons are tricky to pick but, apparently, the secret is to choose the ones that appear dense and that sound hollow when slapped. Those that have a yellow patch are the ones that got to spend enough time in the sun.

Check out the video to learn other tips on how to figure out which fruits to buy and which to let fellow shoppers take home to friends and family.
