Video game developer InXile announces that it plans to launch Wasteland 2 towards the end of August this year, allowing all fans of the classic experience and those who have backed the new project to enjoy a new take on the post-apocalyptic role-playing game genre.

The official update from the company explains that, "It’s exciting to be in this home stretch, and all your support and feedback throughout the process has made the game much better than it would have been otherwise. What we’re releasing is a game of much greater scope than we ever dreamed of when starting our Kickstarter."

Wasteland 2 will feature more core mechanics, more game areas to explore, more dialog to read through and better enemies because the studio has more resources than it was initially expecting to work with.

The beta version of the game that's available to those who have backed the title has also been updated with a final major area in Arizona, which means that about half the entire experience can be played through.

InXile explains that the internal version of Wasteland 2 is feature complete but not locked, which means that the focus in the coming months until August will be on balancing the encounters, optimizing the experience and taking out bugs.

At the same time, based on internal review and on the feedback coming from the player base, InXile might add or cut features in order to make sure that the game experience is solid and does not disappoint on launch.

The studio adds, "we’ll be tweaking the skill usage density and variety our game levels, and adding some smaller lines and skill-paths. Combat balance is something else we’ll be spending a lot of time on in the next months, as it still needs much fine-tuning."

Fans of Wasteland 2 are also invited to help with the localization effort, which aims to translate the entire experience into Spanish, French, German and Italian in order to make sure its reaches as big an audience as possible on launch.

All those who help with the process and manage to work on more than 250 lines of dialogue will be eligible to get a free copy of Wasteland 2, complete with beta access.

The game will offer a party-based role-playing experience set in a world that has been affected by an unnamed major disaster, with the player leading the Desert Rangers as they try to rebuild at least a part of civilization.
