The development team at InXile has a huge information cache ready for all fans of its upcoming Wasteland 2, designed to explain exactly how attributes and skills will be used in the coming squad-based role-playing game.

The full list of attributes for the game includes:

Coordination – determines Action Points, increases ranged criticals; Awareness – increases initiative and evasion while allowing characters to learn more about the world; Intelligence – increases skill points gained per level, used in conversations; Speed – movement rate, influences skills and AP use; Strength – increases constitution, close combat damage and carry ability; Luck – improves criticals, gives a chance for extra actions and affects interactions that depend on chance.

Chris Keenan, a producer working on Wasteland 2, says that not all the attributes included in the game are listed.

He states in a huge update on the Kickstarter page of the title that, “We’ve always said choices and trade-offs are a main design focus and character creation certainly supports this. Attributes have a cap of 10 and you will start with a smaller attribute pool than you may be used to.”

Gamers will have to closely evaluate how they spend each point as they gain experience.

Wasteland 2 will use Survival Points in order to power skill options, which have a cap of 10 and increase in usefulness as the player moves from novice to competent to expert.

The skills are divided in combat, general and knowledge skills and the Kickstarter page offers information on those that InXile has already created for its coming game.

Keenan adds, “We purposefully designed skills that would not be used universally. We want you to build a varied, multi-skilled group of rangers who play off each other’s strength to become a kick-ass team.”

Wasteland 2 is set to go into beta this year for backers and a full version will be launched on the PC in 2014.
