Developer Digital Extremes is enjoying the popularity of its free to play third-person shooter Warframe so far, and is rolling out the game's 13th update, titled Dark Sectors, as we speak.

The team has released a pair of videos to go with the update, the first one having the dev team delivering an overview of what you can expect, with gameplay footage to go with the narration, while the second one is designed solely to showcase the completely new Warframe introduced in the update, the Hydroid.

Digial Extremes has revealed that the new Hydroid Warframe will offer players the opportunity to soak their enemies, by employing an entire arsenal of water-based moves, such as Tempest Barrage, calling down powerful rain, Tidal Surge, hitting enemies with a powerful wall of water or Undertow, which creates a water trap that slowly drowns all unsuspecting enemies.

The full change list shows some exciting additions to the free shooter, the most notable of which being the introduction of Melee 2.0, making hand to hand combat more potent than ever and turning Warframes into agile whirlwinds of slashing and dicing.

Now you can fully equip your melee weapon and then add Combo Chaining, Equip State and Stance Mods in order to uncover an entirely new melee system for your Warframe, which can now also block attacks and combine moves in order to turn into a veritable ninja.

The end game has been updated, and now you have to ready your Clan and build Solar Rails in order to lay claim to the newly discovered Dark Sectors on the Star Map. Collect Tribute as transit fare from everyone who uses your rail and stand guard, lest other Clans steal control of the sector from under your nose.

The 13th update also introduces new weapons, such as the Attica Repeating Crossbow, which allows you to quickly fire a volley of deadly bolts, or master the Nami cutlass and Skyla dagger and use the separate weapons as one, delivering fluid attacks with them or with the new Nikana Katana.

Four new SUGATRA melee weapon attachments are now available to display the martial finesse and skill of its master, complete with the Shock Camo Skins for weapons and the Para Skin for the Carrier Sentinel.

Use these deadly weapons on new enemies such as Vay Hek's Prosecutors or the Guardsmen. Find the type of elemental damage each one is vulnerable to and take them down without mercy.

The Grineer Shipyard and the Ceres planetary region have been expanded with new tilesets, and there are now ten new Dojo Rooms available in-game.
