Ignition Entertainment has announced that it would push its rumored to be canceled project WarDevil into full production, under the codename Project Kane, with all the people implicated in the original development of the title on board, to make sure that it gets a wide release and brings its innovation to players in 2011.

Hassan Sadiq, group chairman of UTV Ignition, has stated, “Following a comprehensive audit of the title, assets and internal team, we have decided that a core team responsible for the Project Kane prototype will take the game into full production, led by the key vision holders.”

He added, “There has been speculation recently about this project but our vision has always been to create top quality content both with internal and external partners and this latest commitment combines the best of the DNA behind the original project vision with some of the creative talent available in the broader industry. Outsourcing ensures flexibility and broader expertise that will dovetail perfectly with internal skill sets to speed up the process and ensure a title of true excellence.”

WarDevil has been in development long enough to be considered vaporware, being initially announced in 2004, when the Xbox 360 was still a glimmer in some designer's eye.

The United Kingdom Ignition studio has been in charge ever since but that will change after it is closed down, with London only retaining publishing operations for Ignition.

This year Ignition published one important title, the online based shooter Blacklight: Tango Down, which arrived on the Xbox Live Arcade service and on the PC and was met with mixed reviews.

The company also has development studios in Austin and in Beijing.

Ignition says that at the moment Project Kane is set to be released in the last quarter of 2011, although the company has not mentioned the platforms on which it will be available.
