Developer Gaijin Entertainment has released a live-action trailer for their massively multiplayer online war game, War Thunder, showing a grisly scene inspired by the conflicts of World War 2.

The trailer debuted at the Russian Comic Con, that took place over the weekend in Moscow, Russia, showing some heart-wrenching wartime sequences, traveling from the trenches to the skies and then back down again to the tanks.

A bleak outlook on the moment-to-moment war time experience

The video, titled Victory is Ours, is meant to showcase the heroism of those who fought in World War 2, and to commemorate the dreary sacrifices made.

"The video emphasizes how important the combined actions of each individual were for overall victory, whether dogfighting with the enemy in the skies as a pilot, or engaging in heated ground based combat as a tanker to support ground troops," the developer states.

Gaijin Entertainment seems to be glorifying warfare and war machines in general, with their games being mostly about laying waste to your opponents from the skies, from the ground and eventually also from the sea, but their heart seems to be in the right place with this one.

"In October 1941, the German Army Group Centre advanced on Moscow. Only after six months of intense fighting was the enemy able to be repelled from the capital. In the war torn fields near Moscow the first major defeat of the German army in World War II occurred against the might of its armed forces, and on 9th of May 1945, after the Battle of Berlin, Germany surrendered," the description of the video informs.

War Thunder is an advanced dogfight simulator for all tastes

War Thunder is the developer's largest effort to date, with the massively multiplayer online warfare game enabling its users to take part in historical air battles, with various period-accurate vehicles ranging from the Spanish Civil War of 1936 up to the Korean War, ending in 1953.

The title is currently in open beta on Windows PC, Mac OS X and PlayStation 4, as a free-to-play title that everyone can download and enjoy. War Thunder is supported entirely by microtransactions, enabling gamers access to new plane models, better and more specialized ammunition, and enhanced cosmetic upgrades.

Most of the maps featured in the game are based on real-life battles from history, either directly or indirectly, and in its current state, the game engine supports maps ranging in size from 65 km x 65 km to 200 km x 200 km, with future estimates said to expand up to 300 km x 300 km.

The game offers a wide range of experiences, from arcade action that focuses on a classic aerial combat video game experience, to realistic battles where physics and damage models take center stage, and daring maneuvers can end up with the pilot passing out or even your wings getting ripped apart at high velocities.
