Start with your DNA speakers!

It looks like every day brings some new speakers ... and it also looks like designing all sorts of speakers has become one of the favorite preoccupations when it comes to designing something multimedia-related.

Not that it is a bad thing, it's just that having so many new things around starts to look like everybody can do this to very profitable results, as the money for such "gadgets" is nice, to say the least...

Thing is that if anyone could do so, where's the exquisite design, where's the originality of the creation and most important, where does the personal touch of the artist go? Because, whether you like it or not, there can't be a whole world full of artists, right?

Dan North Audio (DNA) has come with a brand new set of speakers, the thin way. The really-really thin way, that is. And I am not speaking about silly metal-membrane speakers who can't t produce decent lows... I am telling you about paper cone-drivers sworn to go as low as 70Hz, together with shimmering 20Hz-capable tweeters! The DNA Sonic D?cor will expand your room-layout possibilities way beyond your dreams!

The interest should rise quickly as you'll see that these speakers are 10.8 cm thick only, making a great match with paintings, plasma or LCD screens. Unlike in-wall speakers (which obviously can't be moved as you wish) the DNA Sonic D?cor gives you unlimited portability across your entire home, hence the new possibility to re-arrange your rooms accordingly.

Due to the extensive color-range of cabinets (MDF-build handmade in California), trim panels and front grille, no less than 80 combinations between these 3 elements are possible thus DNA making sure their products fit everywhere.

Gold-plated connectors and spring-push action give you thorough cable securing; along with the small weight (roughly 6Kg each) and very easy setup procedure (about 10 minutes from the box to actual usage), these speakers seem quite a bang.

And if we're at the bang-chapter I must add that recommended power amps ranging between 50W and 100W are intended for the DNA Sonic D?cor: DNA actually recommends Marantz, Arcam, B&K, Creek, NAD or Rotel amplification to be used with these speakers; of course the choice is yours, but be careful to pick something really cool!

Finally, the price for these beauties may set you aback if you were rather looking for the everyday blasters: $1495 a pair, including a pair of trim panels and a pair of cloth grille, all the Brackets, screws and wall inserts. But "thin" costs...
