Walton Chaintech, a manufacturer of memory modules and graphics cards, has recently announced a new lineup of 2.5-inch and 1.8-inch SATA II solid state drives, which come as part of the company's APOGEE series. The newly announced drives have been designed for the industrial market segment, providing an impressive specifications list.

The new 2.5-inch SATA II and the 1.8-inch Micro SATA II SSDs will be available in 16GB / 32GB / 64GB and 128GB flavors, with a maximum read speed of 120MB/s. The company also introduced the APOGEE industrial CF card with capacities ranging from 32MB to 8GB, EDM with 32MB to 6GB capacities, and the industrial SD card with 128MB to 8GB storage.

The company's APOGEE series of products is designed for industrial use applications such as IPC, thin client, STB, VoIP, medical devices, POS, gaming stations, PBX, and various other multimedia displays in public transportation.

Some of the features of the company's APOGEE industrial-oriented solid state drives include shock resistance, built-in Error Correction Code, and some of the best SLC NAND Flash IC. According to the company, the drives can provide more than 2 million hours of MTBF, which obviously makes them the ideal choice for industrial applications. Furthermore, both the 2.5-inch and the 1.8-inch drives will be offered with different connection interfaces, ranging from PATA for the 1.8-inch models, to SATA II, for both the 1.8-inch and the 2.5-inch models.

As mentioned above, the APOGEE lineup of storage products has been designed for the industrial market segment, which is why the newcomers are also meant to provide an impressive performance level. Unfortunately, the company has not released any details regarding the new products’ availability and pricing.

In the SSD market, the 120MB/s read speed is becoming a standard for high-performance drives. However, companies such as OCZ have already announced new products that break this performance barrier, offering a maximum read speed of 170MB/s.
