The development team at Telltale Games announces that it is planning to launch the first and the second seasons for The Walking Dead on the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony at some point during October of this year, with the clear date set to be established as soon as the month starts.

At the same time, the company is aiming to launch the first season of The Wolf Among Us on the same platforms in November.

Rumors about current-gen versions of the titles have been appearing since spring, but the official confirmation does not offer any details on the changes that the developers are planning to make, although fans can probably expect to see improved resolution, better textures and maybe even some slight modifications to the core gameplay.

Retail versions of the second season of The Walking Dead and the first season of The Wolf Among Us will also arrive for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the Vita during the months mentioned above.

Episodic gaming is here to stay

Telltale Games has managed to get a very solid fan base by creating series which focus on interesting stories, compelling characters and major choices that the player needs to explore.

Both The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us are based on franchises that already existed and the studio is well known for its ability to take a setting and then insert its own ideas and its own moral dilemmas.

The development team has already confirmed that it is exploring a number of concepts for a third season for its undead-powered franchise and an official launch will probably take place at some point in 2015.

Fables is also a deep universe with plenty of storylines to explore, and The Wolf Among Us will also make a return next year, although the company has so far offered fans no clear plans.

Preparing for a new universe

Telltale Games is also working on a video game that is based on the Game of Thrones universe, as seen in the television series that HBO has created based on the work of George R.R. Martin.

So far, the studio has not offered any concrete plans, other than saying that it plans to stay as close to the universe as possible and that it might focus on the way a small house will become embroiled in a bigger plot that can affect all of Westeros.
