Wrestling is becoming a very popular sport these days, particularly because it provides a great amount of entertainment and offers players interesting matches against some of the best fighters out there. All of this popularity couldn't be left unexploited by gaming companies, which were sure to make a yearly sports franchise out of the most popular wrestling series out there, SmackDown and Raw.

The series, entitled WWE SmackDown vs. Raw, is developed by Yuke's and published by THQ. It features a wide variety of wrestlers the players can choose from to fight. Also, as the latest 2009 iteration was launched, it brought a variety of new modes and changes, like the revamped tag match or the Road to WrestleMania.

Now, it seems that PlayStation 3 owners will get a batch of DLC (Downloadable Content) for this fresh WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 game. It will consist of new players, which will add to the impressive 70+ roster in the standard game, like Evan Bourne, Ted DiBiase and Charlie Haas, as playable superstars, new holiday costumes for Kelly Kelly and Maria, and, most importantly, a fresh ring gear for Chris Jericho, MVP and Edge.

“Consumers are constantly looking for ways to modify and enhance their gameplay experiences online, and the ever-changing WWE brand offers many exciting opportunities to bring fresh, dynamic content to our WWE SmackDown vs. Raw community,” said Scott Guthrie, executive vice president of publishing for THQ.

This batch will be the first of many, as THQ stated that more content would be made for both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 versions. This DLC pack is currently priced at 4.99 dollars, and will certainly make a lot of wrestling and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw fans very interested in it.
