Gamers can choose what kind of experience they want

WWE 2K15 is a difficult game to develop because the virtual experience needs to mimic the theatrics of the real world spectacle that is professional wrestling, while also allowing gamers to engage in actual competitive matches against either the computer or another human opponent.

Mark Little, who is at the moment leading the development of the new title with a joint taskforce made up of people from Yuke's and Visual Concepts, believes that the upgraded mechanics can support two very different approaches.

He tells CVG that “Some of the changes we made are specifically about addressing that challenge. The pacing, the flow, the stamina system - they're all there so you can let the game play out as a real wrestling match, if you so choose.”

He adds, “However, if you want to go crazy and button mash, you can have success too. It might not look like the WWE programming you see on TV, but it's definitely an option.”

WWE 2K15 is designed to use the power of the current generation of consoles to deliver a more accurate representation of wrestling, with a focus on the various unique moves that the stars can perform and on new ways to take out an opponent.

Matches will start off, as in real life, with some moves that test the defense of the other wrestler and then gamers will have to choose the powerful move that they want to end the match with and make sure that they do not mess up the delivery.

That can change the entire momentum of the match and give an opponent the edge for a while, offering them a chance to deliver one of their own powerful moves.

The new wrestling video game is designed to also focus on the major rivalries that run through the activity, and players can take part in the most interesting battles of the past.

The 2K Showcase mode will focus on thirty-three matches that will involve two pairs of fighters, John Cena and CM Punk and Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

The development team promises that all the core modes of the title are improved and that every fan of the spectacle of wrestling will find something interesting in the new game.

WWE 2K15 will be out on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and last-gen consoles on October 28 in the United States and on October 31 in Europe.
