14 DAY TRIAL // Publisher 2K Sports has announced the details of 2K Showcase, the story-driven single-player campaign segment in the upcoming WWE 2K15 video game.
The game mode will allow wrestling fans all around the world to explore two notable WWE rivalries, enhanced through high-quality cinematics, as well as historic WWE footage for an added touch of realism.
The 2K Showcase will explore the rivalry between Triple H and Shawn Michaels, from 2002 to 2004, as well as the one between WWE 2K15 cover athlete John Cena and CM Punk, spanning from 2011 to 2013.
"The moment Triple H ended his longtime friendship with 'The Heartbreak Kid' by slamming him with a Pedigree was a defining moment in WWE history. No fan can deny the fierce competition marking the notorious battles waged between Cena and Punk."
"These two rivalries are firmly etched in WWE history, and 2K Showcase enables fans to take part in those memorable experiences," Chris Snyder, vice president of Marketing at 2K, said in a statement.
The spotlight will tell the epic story of two legendary rivalries through a documentary-style video approach, packaged with classic WWE footage and authentic WWE Superstar commentary, as well as cinematic cutscenes.
Players will be able to take part in 33 matches spanning the rivalries, and will be tasked with completing a set of bonus historical objectives that will unlock several new characters, Championship titles as well as alternate costumes that can be employed in all the other game modes in WWE 2K15.
The bounty of unlockable content will enable players to recreate current rivalries or stage their own dream matchups between WWE Superstarts belonging to both the present and the past.
Furthermore, 2K has announced that additional 2K Showcase rivalries will become available for download in the future, after the game is shipped.
The collector's edition of the game, dubbed Hulkamania Edition, comes packed with genuine wrestling memorabilia, such as an actual piece of the ring canvas from Hogan's appearance on WWE Raw earlier this year, as well as hand-signed collectable art card and an exclusive Funko Hollywood Hulk Hogan vinyl figure.
In addition to this, the collector's edition also enables access to two playable pre-order launch exclusive Hulk Hogan characters, as well as the regular pre-order bonus of two playable exclusive Sting characters.
WWE 2K15 is currently scheduled to come out on October 28 in North America and October 31 in Europe, for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.
