Graphics card

A PowerColor X1650 Pro will be behind the systems at WCG 2006, "the largest and most inclusive international computer and video games festival, with an anticipated 700 top gamers from more than 70 countries", held at Monza, Italy.

"The PowerColor X1650 Pro has already proven to be an extremely popular card and with the endorsement of World Cyber Games, PowerColor graphics cards are proving to be the best choice for any gamer", said Ted Chen, CEO of TUL Corp.

All the systems used in the tournament will be equipped with the before mentioned card, clocked at 600 Mhz (core) with 256 MB 128-bit DDR3 memory clocked at 1400 Mhz. This is the first time that a mainstream card was officially used as a card in a high-end competition, but it comes somewhat natural as competing gamers are more interested in frames than in nice shiny graphics. Some of the games that will run on WCG are FIFA, NFS MW, Starcraft, Warcraft, and Dawn of War. While Starcraft runs well on a Pentium 1 and it really doesn't require a high-end system, its younger brother (Warcraft Frozen Throne) can be pretty demanding.

Recently, I've showed you the HIS idea of an X1650 Pro card, with 512 MB DDR2 at 800 Mhz and a core clocked at 600 Mhz. More specs here.

Last year, the choice was an Asustek radeon X800TD 128 MB PCIe. You can see the full specs here.

Also, if you want to receive priority in interview requests, press materials and reserved seating at official ceremonies, you can register early online. Today is the last day in which registration can be made, so hurry, as it will save your time in getting a press pass on-site during the WCG 2006 Grand Final, which will guarantee your admission to the WCG 2006 Grand Final events.
