14 DAY TRIAL // It's no big news that the animal kingdom is full of surprises, but watching a cobra hunt down and feed on a rat snake is something rather amazing, especially since, as far as we know, most such reptiles feed on rodents and similar warm-blooded animals.
Yup, it looks like cannibalism isn't quite as taboo as we might think it is. Au contraire, animals out in the wild don't always shy away from eating other of their kind, especially if they are an easy kill.
As the video shows, the cobra might hold the upper ground, but the rat snake proves itself to be a worthy opponent: as the cobra wraps itself around it, the victim tries to fight back and inflict some injuries on its predator, but the venom is quick to do its job and serve the cobra its much deserved meal.
Since they don't have proper chompers to chew on their meals, cobras and other snakes have no choice but consume their prey whole. In this video, the cobra eats the rat snake as if it were spaghetti. It's actually fairly frightening if you think about it.
Narrated in quite a funny manner, this video can be used to raise some awareness with respect to how diverse our natural ecosystems are in terms of plant and animal species, and hopefully determine people to do their best in helping implement new conservation projects and establish new wildlife sanctuaries.
