It has GPS, a gyroscope, a camera, a processor, RAM and touch sensors

Google may be preparing the Glass for mass availability, but there are other augmented reality headsets getting ready for the same, and this time I'm not talking about the DK-40 Heads Up Display.

Instead, I am bringing you the Vuzix M100, which is up for pre-order at a price of $1,000 / €1,000.

Whether or not the price is worthwhile you'll have to decide for yourself. I'll just say that Vuzix previously said the price would be of $500 / €500, and the double leap is a bit much to take in.

Anyway, the Vuzix M100 has GPS support, a gyroscope, touch sensors, a camera, Bluetooth and, of course, a processor and RAM.

Those are the bare essentials really, not counting the small screen that displays things in your peripheral vision.

It won't be a totally standalone product, since it doesn't have 3G, but if you have a smartphone in your pocket, it will do well as an extension of it. On that note, the images in the eye unit should look like a smartphone would if you held it at 10-12 inches in front of your eyes.
